The Harp Seal Pup, also known as the Greenland Seal, is a species of seal found in the Arctic regions of Greenland and Canada. They are known for their distinctive appearance, with a black harp-shaped marking on their back and the rest of their fur being a silvery-gray color. Harp Seal Pups are born on the sea ice in late winter or early spring and are dependent on their mothers for the first few weeks of their lives. They are able to swim and dive within hours of being born and are weaned after about 12 days. The pups are usually left on the ice while their mothers hunt for food, and they rely on their thick fur coat to keep them warm in the cold Arctic temperatures. These seals are social animals and can be found in large groups on the ice floes during the breeding season. They feed primarily on fish and crustaceans, diving deep into the water to catch their prey. Harp Seal Pups are currently listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN, but they face threats from climate change and habitat loss. Conservation efforts are in place to protect these seals and their natural habitats.
